PURSUING A GOOD WAR IN OUR FAITH

Determination is a virtue of being firm towards the achievement of our goal.  That willingness to undertake and surpass all the blunder just to get to the destination that our heart desires.  More so, we need to pursue a good war in our faith and be able to defend it and stand by it against anything in this world.  For if we be able to fight this war, then one day, the victory will be ours, the everlasting life of praising God, free from all forms of sickness, oppression and injustice.  Praise be to God!

War Boots – PEACE

When we receive Jesus Christ in our hearts, our life is not guaranteed to be quiet and free from chaos.  The more we follow Christ’s path, the more we attract challenges, opposition and temptations.  But a Christian soldier knows what to do, Our Savior will lead us towards peace in the midst of chaos and misunderstanding.  Peace in our heart and in our mind.

War Pants – FRUIT/GIFT

The Christian daily life is not easy.  The war goes on against all kinds of evil and deceit.  But we fight it with spiritual gifts.  Purity and kindness melt the hardest heat made of stone.  Even as we suffer, we will be rewarded soon.  As long as we are in the path of righteousness and acknowledge the gift that is given to you, we use them to fight these worldly sins, and we use them to show the power of God to others who don’t know Him yet.

War Belt – TRUTH

Integrity is saying what you mean and meaning what you say.  Elijah was a Man of God but the people did not believe Him at first.  But when the Lord heard his cry and healed the son of the widow where he stayed, everyone believed that he spoke of the truth.  Truth and honesty are symbols of righteousness.  God listens to His children and because of this we become witnesses of his greatness and power.

War Gloves – Worship

There are places in this world where Christians are persecuted when enemies find them worshipping God.  Some are tortured and eventually meets death.  Majority like us are still blessed to worship openly.  Let us take this chance to praise God wherever we are and whatever we do.  We honor him in our actions, and this is worshipping.  We bow down to God even if we do not see Him.  This is because our God is present and alive in our hearts.

War Bracers – Humility

Humility can always be compared to the trait of a child, because his innocence does not allow him to take on any form of pride and boastfulness.  A child’s heart is full of faith and trust that no one can break.  He does not have any doubt in his heart.  Let us fight our enemies with humility.  Let us not revenge with those who wronged us, instead, let us pray for them that they may encounter Jesus in their lives.

War Breastplate – Righteousness

It is so difficult to live in righteousness.  We are surrounded by forces of evil.  It is easy to fall astray and forget about our salvation and be corrupted by negativities.  Everyday we need to have a quiet time with the Lord, a time to meditate in His love.  During these times, He speaks to us and we hear Him.  He shows us lovely things, about our future, our career, our family.  Let us meditate on these visions and live with it.

War Shoulderpads – Glory

No one can really fathom how glorious God is.  His glory gives mercy to the sinners, to the undeserving.  His arms are wide open to embrace even one with the darkest soul, if one seeks Him and the path of righteousness.  God does not discriminate.  He came to this world for the sinners.  Let us keep the war shoulderpads to imitate God and be accepting of everyone, understanding each situation and be able to introduce God into their lives through our life.

War Cape – Anointing

As we continue to grow in our faith, we need to be nurtured through teachings and studying the Word of God.  The truth anoints us and teaches us everything that we need in our lives.  This anointing also makes us abide in His Word.  The War Cape of Anointing equips to live in the midst of this world and face trials and challenges.

War Helmet – Salvation

Salvation is an act of mercy done by our Savior Jesus Christ.  We are obliged to follow His path, and let’s accept that it is not easy.  It means leaving our old self which was used to the pleasures of this world,  friends and company who have negative influence on us.  The wealth which drives us to commit.  Salvation has a price and it’s called sacrifice.  Giving up on our physical needs and feeding our spiritual needs instead.

War Shield – Faith

Our faith in our God is symbolized by the cross, the death of Jesus Christ.  This is what we believe in and the same we share to our brothers and sisters.  Many times, our faith will be tested, by sorrow, tragedy, financial difficulty, persecution.  But let us not be troubled and swayed, instead, let us be strong and focus our eyes on Jesus, the author and finishes of our faith.

War Sword – Spiritual Warfare

The war we face in this world is not physical, but spiritual warfare, a debate against false teachings and beliefs.  We fight against inequality, oppression, injustice, which are all the works of the devil.  Let the Word of God be our sword to fight them.

War Bow – Dominion

Let us understand that our God is a powerful and the wealthiest Master! He owns the universe and everything in it.  Therefore, let us not be discouraged or troubled by any signs of shortage in our needs.  He can feed five thousand with 5 loaves and 2 fish.  Let us put our trust in Him and He will not abandon us.

The Gift of Freedom

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with that, that we should no longer be slaves to sin, because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

-Romans 6: 6-7

When the American Civil War (1861-65) began, President Abraham Lincoln carefully framed the conflict as concerning the preservation of the Union rather than the abolition of slavery. Although he personally found the practice of slavery abhorrent, he knew that neither Northerners nor the residents of the border slave states would support abolition as a war aim. But by mid-1862, as thousands of slaves fled to join the invading Northern armies, Lincoln was convinced that abolition had become a sound military strategy, as well as the morally correct path. On September 22, soon after the Union victory at Antietam, he issued a preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, declaring that as of January 1, 1863, all slaves in the rebellious states “shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free.” While the Emancipation Proclamation did not free a single slave, it was an important turning point in the war, transforming the fight to preserve the nation into a battle for human freedom

Freedom has a cost.  It has not been easy to be free from bondage.  More so if this bondage or status had been widely accepted and practiced by the majority.  During Lincoln’s time, the 5-year civil war cost the United Stated countless deaths and sacrifice to be where they are now, to be where we are now.

Men are born as sinners because only God is Holy.  The ultimate purpose and success of the Crucifixion allows us to be emancipated from our sins.  Which means we are not anymore within the bounds of its control.  We can choose between committing sin and not. We were forgiven through the death of our old self.  The enslavers during Abraham’s time were politically correct, they were not prosecuted or shamed because of their practices. The slaves do not have any other choice but to comply with their obligation as the slaves.  Freedom from sin is more magical and powerful because of the Holy Spirit.  After the death of Jesus Christ and His resurrection, the disciples were anointed to preach and spread the Word of His salvation to the world so that people will experience the transformation brought about by the love of Christ.

One cannot explain or describe visually how this transformation happens, but can only be testified by people who chose to follow the path that Jesus led.  There had been difficult fighting times, but the Holy Spirit always leads us to choose the right path and we have proven that the path of righteousness leads to joy in our hearts.

Let us spread the gift of freedom..
